I have found a new Internet obsession!!! It's cosmopolitan.com (pretty much the best website for women on the Internet). I somehow find myself on it everyday, whether I meant to or not. It has articles about everything that a girl would want to know about, relationships, sex, friends, health and beauty, and even some pretty good quizzes.

However, this specific blog is about one of the articles that I read the other day on EC, or Emergency Contraceptives. I really love Cosmo because they aren't afraid to answer questions without a bias. They give you all the facts about each side. Except for this article, it started off about a girl talking about a condom breaking during intercourse. She then asked if it would be safe to take an EC such as Plan B, the most popular form of EC. The article really didn't answer any of her questions. I felt as though they skipped right over her question actually. The article continued to skip over her question by telling about how this incident most likely occurred, because the condom wasn't used correctly... Really??? This person is asking about what will happen to her body and all you can tell her is that she doesn't know how to use a condom. UNBELIEVABLE.

I began to do research on the EC because I was curious and Cosmo did not quiet quench my intellectual thirst. I found out from the Plan B website that this EC will not abort an already established pregnancy. I wasn't clear on this and I don't know if everyone else was too. But, what was more interesting was finding out how the pill actually works. It thickens the mucous lining of your cervix to impede sperm from reaching your fallopian tubes. It also thins out the lining of your uterus so that in the case that the egg is fertilized, it can not implant into the lining. The website warned of nausea, dizziness, and vomiting, much like the Cosmo website did (being the only useful piece of info I could pull from my adored website).

That being said, I am still pretty disappointed in Cosmo for not giving women the actual health facts. It will definitely deter me from reading more health related articles from their site because the information may also be skewed.

Our First Lady

Just today, I was reading an article that I thought was going to be about Michelle Obama's view on childhood obesity. However, as the article continued, I learned that it was actually more about the percerption that the public has of her. The whole reason that I read this article was to give me insight on to some of the things that Mrs. Obama is passionate about. I haven't really heard of anything that she has taken a definite stand on in this past year. This made me curious so I googled her to find relative articles about her views. I thought that the childhood obesity one would be the most compelling.

As I read the article, I noticed that there really wasn't anything about her stand on this topic. She just basically pointed out that it was a problem because, for the first time in our Nations history, children's lives are shorter than their parents. I thought that this would be a great topic to hear some of her thoughts. However, the reporter seemed to shy away from any insight that Mrs. Obama may have held. This reporter then went on to tell her of how she was on Maxims list of attractive women.

I was bewildered. Why didn't the reporter ask more questions about her stand, instead of irrelevant facts? I just think this goes to show you how sideways our media is. Instead of caring about the real stuff, like what our First Lady believes in, we are more worried about what games they play over supper in the White House. Does anyone else find this as crazy as I do? Who cares what she stands for as long as she has cute stories about her and her family...

Pat Robertson = DOUCHE...

I would just like to draw attention to the comments made recently by the senile Pat Robertson. I first viewed his insane segment on the internet while searching around youtube. It starts off like most of his other shows...LAME. But this one takes on a whole new perspective. He blames the citizens of Haiti for their misery. He brings up some really great history facts (jk) about how the citizens of Haiti sold their souls to the devil. I was astonished... Does this old man really believe that? I literally had to stop the video in order to laugh ( I really didn't want to miss anything he said because it was based sooo much in the truth.) Im just really confused on how he thinks that he is helping those people at all. I mean I guess some could argue that he's drawing attention to the deplorable conditions but he's basically throwing them under the bus as well.
